My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
If I were to sum up the month of February in one word it would be: snow! Lots and lots of snow. I personally love the snow, but as inconvenient as the snow may be for most at times, St. Teresa of Avila reminds us that, “There is no such thing as bad weather. All weather is good because it is God’s.” What a great reminder for us all, right? Humidity and heat, bless the Lord! Cold and chill, bless the Lord!
And as usual, our dedicated parishioners and team did not let the snowy weather hold them back from doing our Lord’s work. No, we were still quite busy! Snow or no snow, here is some of what still took place during the month of February:
2. Men’s Steak Nite (2nd & 3rd pics, 2nd row) – Our annual Steak Nite, lead by Rick Albright, once again a resounding success! Over 240 men from our parish and other parishes came together to enjoy fun, food and fellowship. Congratulations to our five award recipients: Pat Hallock (Spirituality Award); Dan Krieger (Fatherhood Award); Tom Bresch (Service Award) and Brenda and Eryn Albright (Women’s Service Awards)!
3. Baptisms abound (4th & 5th pics, 3rd row) – Congratulations and Baptismal Blessings to the newest members of God’s family: Jeremiah Danial & Julian Michael Martin, Baptized Feb 9, 2019 and Ella Marie Harris, Baptized February 23, 2019! And congratulations to all parents and godparents! I hope you will join me in praying for their parents and godparents who have taken on the important responsibility of contributing to the spiritual formation of these young ones. And please also pray that the graces poured out on each of them through this Sacrament will lead them in greater relationship with Christ and His Church throughout all the years of their lives.
My Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
As you may have noticed, recently our parish has been looking for more ways to consistently communicate in order to keep you up-to-date and in the loop on all of the work that our Lord is doing in and through our parish family. In order to better communicate and grow in Christian unity with each other as Intentional Disciples, you will be receiving a monthly “#MemberMonday” e-mail from me highlighting 2-3 parishioners who have agreed to share their stories as Intentional Disciples with our parish family. You should receive this e-mail with videos (see below) once a month. And if you follow us on Facebook, you will see a picture posted weekly as well.
Our goal in sharing through our #MemberMonday monthly update is for each of us to be encouraged in the faith. Through social media, e-mail communications, our parish newsletter, bulletins, and other modes of communications, it is our – MY – hope that we can grow in deeper relationship with our Lord and with each other.
Each one of us is on a different part of our faith journey towards saintly holiness – each #MemberMonday post will show us this. As we journey together, we all have, or should have, one goal: to love God and to make His love known… so it is my hope that these monthly e-mails and weekly Facebook posts enable us to grow in love of God and of each other. This is my prayer for all of us.
What a blessed parish of Intentional Disciples we have, right? I’m grateful…
In the Love of Christ,
