|My Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,|
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” is this year’s Lenten Theme at our parish. As you know, Lent begins this Wednesday, February 26th, and provides the annual opportunity to progress in this perfection of love for God and others. It provides us with opportunities to repent!
As we focus on the well-being of the other—which is what loves does—we cannot overlook or avoid the person’s need for the Lord. This is why Intentional Discipleship is so important, for it empowers us to share Jesus with others, so they, too, can be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. We have many opportunities for you to grow in holiness this Lent, and we can invite others to do so with us! Here is what you can expect and look forward to:
1. Ash Wednesday – Mass Times HERE. FASTING – Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of both fasting and abstinence. Fasting is required for those 18 years of age until age 60. One full meal, with two smaller meals are permitted. The two smaller meals together should not equal another meal. Eating between meals is not permitted; but liquids are allowed. When health is seriously affected, the law of fasting does not oblige.ABSTINENCE – Abstinence from meat is the required, penitential practice for all those 14 years of age and older on all the Fridays in Lent and Good Friday.2. Lenten Stations of the Cross – Stations will every Friday at 7pm (Upper Church) and Tuesday at 1:30pm (Lower Chapel). Details HERE.
3. Intercessory Prayer Group – Let Jesus Heal You This Lent. Details HERE.
