My Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
The joy of Easter only begins with the Risen Lord, for He embraced his Paschal Mystery that He might share His life with us, and that we might share in it ABUNDANTLY. And it is in sharing that we recognize and embrace God’s limitless love for us. We cannot help but be changed when we are awakened to the mystery of His love, am I right?
The promise of His love stirs in us, as Intentional Disciples, the desire to know Him and to make His love known to the world. Love impelled the holy women to go to the tomb, to go and demonstrate one last expression of love. Love would not be denied. Yet, Easter proclaims that it is God’s Love that is ALL-POWERFUL, that God’s love gives Life.
Had He not died for us we would be doomed. With no Hope. Instead in His sinlessness, He suffered. He died. He rose. And in this Paschal act He made us new. In His death He gave us life. Eternal Life. He gave us Hope.
As St. Pope John Paul, II said, “It is in accepting God’s love for me personally that I am able to love others more fully.” Together, as a parish family renewed in the confidence of His Love this Easter, my prayer for you – for all of us – is that this confidence will stir in each of us the desire to Love Him and to make His Love known more fully in our families, in our workplaces, in our parish, in our world. This is what it means to be His Intentional Disciples.
Together, let us go forward as God’s “Easter People” with alleluia as our song… Happy Easter!
In the Glory of the Resurrection,
Fr. Allan Wolfe
PS: I will be in touch later on this week with a special VLOG message to help us celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday! In the meantime, however, please find here the Divine Mercy Novena, that began on God Friday and which we are saying together as a parish. If you have not begun this Novena, that’s ok – start today! Our Lord is outside the realm of time, so He can catch you up to speed! 🙂
