RCIC–The Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (of catechetical age)–is the RCIA program adapted for children, age 7 to 14. It provides age-appropriate material and activities to communicate the rich tradition and teaching of the Catholic Faith. Children who have adequately prepared to receive the sacraments of initiation are brought into Church at or around the time of the Easter Vigil.
Children under 7 can be baptized by calling the rectory to attend the required baptismal preparation class for parents. Children over 14 can be part of the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program.
The RCIC program runs from September to April, every other Wednesday evening 7:00 – 8:00pm in Tipitina’s (upstairs). The RCIC program prepares children to receive the sacraments in the Spring: Baptism, Confirmation, First Reconciliation, and First Communion (depending on which sacraments the children have already received).
Children should also be enrolled either in Catholic School (Resurrection School) or the parish CCD (religious education) program.
